(BMLTV) LOS ANGELES, April 18, 2014 - In December 2013, 34-year-old Alfred Tapia, a known gang member from the Whittier area of Los Angeles County had been identified as being responsible for three separate vicious stabbing attacks in the cities of Pico Rivera, Whittier, and Chino.
At the time of the reported crimes, Tapia was the subject of a massive manhunt by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and United States Marshal’s Office.
Tapia was ultimately located in late December 2013, when he was arrested and subsequently convicted of an armed robbery that occurred in Tijuana, Mexico.
On Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Mexican Authorities in Tijuana, Mexico released Tapia to United States Immigration Customs Enforcement officials at the International Border at San Ysidro.
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Operation Safe Streets Bureau (Gang Detail) took Tapia into custody and subsequently booked him at Pico Rivera Sheriff’s Station for arrest warrants and a parole violation.
He is currently awaiting arraignment on multiple counts of attempt murder and has no bail set at this time.
