(BMLTV) NORFOLK, VA November 21, 2016 - More than 300 professionals, reentry advocates and former offenders from Norfolk and/or their family members came together for the 3rd Annual Community Collaborations Reentry Summit mid October at Old Dominion University’s Constant Convocation Center.
The annual summit is designed to foster new, and strengthen existing, partnerships and provide an opportunity to share best practices related to the Prisoner Reentry field.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Alexander and Director Howard W. Clarke, Virginia Department of Corrections were among the special guest speakers during the opening and closing sessions. Breakout sessions featured Gov. McAuliffe’s “Classroom Not Courtroom” Initiatives, Life from Inside Out, Crime Accountability with Victim Acknowledgement, Effects of Trauma on the Brain and Behavior, and the VA Veteran Family Support Program.

The Community Collaborations Reentry Summit is sponsored by the Norfolk Reentry Council in partnership with Old Dominion University and the Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice.
