(BMLTV) CHESAPEAKE VA., October 15, 2019 - Tuesday at an approximately 2p.m. police rush to cord off a large swath of streets which were in the parameter of a home where a murder was committed. Police say they responded from a call to the 400 block of Rutgers Ave. & Second St. and found a female victim deceased from gunfire. The victim was identified as 48-year-old Vicki Thomas.
In the process of the investigation, within hours, the police were able to locate and identify 58-year-old Henry Thomas, Vicki Thomas’ husband, as the suspect and found him at a home in the 2800 block of Southport Avenue at approximately 8 p.m.
As the police proceeded to attempt interaction with the suspect, a gunshot was recognized as coming from within the property. The suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.

Neighbors of the 400 block Rutgers property weren’t aware of any reasons to be concerned of incidents going on. Vicki Thomas was not recognized as the current resident of the Rutgers home. However neighbors witnessed Henry Thomas coming and going for years. Neighbors say they were unaware of Thomas being married.
